Job Description:
The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is seeking a highly skilled
and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our dedicated healthcare
team within the federal correctional environment. This role is
pivotal in providing top-tier medical care and maintaining the
health and welfare of inmates in a secure and humane facility. The
Registered Nurse will work closely with a team of healthcare
professionals to manage a variety of medical conditions, ensuring
adherence to the highest standards of nursing practice and
correctional healthcare. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate
nursing care for inmates with acute and chronic conditions.
Document medical history and symptoms, collaborating with a range
of healthcare professionals to facilitate comprehensive care.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor
reactions and side effects. Provide emergency medical care and
first response during medical emergencies within the facility.
Conduct health education programs for inmates, promoting wellness
and disease prevention. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and
institutional policies and procedures related to healthcare.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with
procedures, rules, and regulations. Participate in continuous
professional development activities and keep current with best
practices in correctional healthcare. Strong clinical skills with
the ability to work autonomously Excellent interpersonal and
communication skills Ability to handle high-stress situations
calmly and effectively Proficiency in electronic healthcare record
systems Knowledge of legal and ethical considerations related to
nursing care in a correctional setting Medical Insurance Dental
Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Current registered nurse
licensure in the state of practice CPR certification Advanced
Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
