Job Description:
The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is seeking a dedicated and
compassionate Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team, located
within a federal correctional facility. This role is crucial in
maintaining the health and well-being of inmates, ensuring the
provision of high-quality medical care in a secure and humane
environment. As a Registered Nurse with the BOP, you will face
unique challenges and opportunities, working in a dynamic and
sometimes intense environment to provide care to a diverse
population. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for
inmates within the facility. Collaborate with physicians and
multidisciplinary team members to formulate care plans. Administer
medications, track vaccinations, and monitor responses to
treatments. Perform emergency medical procedures when necessary,
such as CPR. Educate patients about health management and disease
prevention. Maintain accurate patient records and prepare reports
on data regarding inmates’ health conditions and care. Ensure
compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards, and
adhere strictly to security regulations and protocols. Participate
in the development of health care policies pertinent to inmate
management. Strong clinical skills in a hospital or acute care
setting. Excellent decision-making and multi-tasking capabilities.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in potentially high-risk
situations. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with
the capability to manage relations with inmates and other
healthcare professionals. Comfortable using medical software and
electronic health records. Medical Insurance Dental Insurance
Vision Insurance Life Insurance Must possess a current, active,
full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional
nurse from a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of
Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Basic Life
Support (BLS) certified by the American Heart Association or
American Red Cross. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
certification is beneficial.
