Description:The Systems Safety Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the products developed at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control and sold to the customer are safe for use. The primary job responsibility will be that of performing Hazard Analysis (Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), System Hazard Analysis (SHA), Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA), Operating and Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA), Functional Hazard Analysis, Software Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis)) per MIL-STD-882 and contract requirements.\n \nDuties include: \n \nEmploy safety analysis techniques which will be performed on the engineering product \n \nDevelop System Safety for environmental compliance, prohibited materials, hazardous materials management, and pollution prevention in accordance with MIL-STD-882 \n \nDevelop, deliver and update System Safety Analysis and Risk Assessment, and Hazard Tracking database\n \nFlow down of the System Safety requirements to suppliers and audit/review of the supplier's analysis\n \nIndependently analyzes and recommends safety features and controls for system design, software, training and procedures to mitigate or eliminate hazards \n \nPerform and support the development of safety documentation to support customer/contract requirements\n \nSupport the development of integrated system hazard analyses \n \nPerform software safety tasks and activities associated with the requirements of AR 385-17\n \nWork with systems and software engineering on architecture, Use Cases and software safety analyses\n \nEnsure hardware and software system safety requirements are identified and documented in appropriate plans, processes and procedures\n \nAssure the program defines and collects evidence in meeting established software safety requirements\n \nPrepare and deliver presentations and participates in safety review meetings, system design meetings, program engineering review and change board meetings \n \nEnsure hazard controls are properly implemented and verified \n \nParticipate in the development of testing activities to assure safety requirements are met\n \nReview and provide input to Systems Engineering, Design and Software documentation to include requirements development, design, development, verification, test methods and performance verification\n \nReview specifications, technical documentation, and changes to those documents for impacts to system safety. \n \nPlan, host and support System Safety working groups to validate the system?s design to meet requirements\n \nWork closely with customer to develop Safety Cases, collaborates hazard mitigations and residual risk and obtain Safety Releases/Certifications \n \nReview Engineering Changes, support Concept Screening Board (CSB) and Configuration Control Board (CCB) \n \nCandidate will spend majority of time working in a team environment, providing inputs to engineers, performing analyses, and writing reports \n \nThere may be some travel\n \nThe Locale: Grand Prairie is part of the ?Mid-Cities? region in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex which is in the North Central region of Texas. Grand Prairie is a suburb of both Dallas and Fort Worth. The region offers a great cost of living combined with a robust economy and a pleasant climate. This North Central region of Texas is a great place to live and to raise a family. The region is home to numerous colleges and universities to include University of Texas at Dallas, University of Texas at Arlington, University of North Texas, Southern Methodist University, Southern Methodist University, and Texas Woman's University. The Mid-Cities is the suburban region filling the thirty-mile span between Dallas and Fort Worth. These communities include the cities of Arlington, Irving, Grand Prairie, Grapevine, Southlake, Colleyville, HEB (Hurst, Euless and Bedford), NRH (North Richland Hills and Richland Hills), Haltom City, Watauga, and Keller, along with multiple other smaller towns such as Trophy Club and Roanoke and together represent more people than either Dallas or Fort Worth.\n Basic Qualifications: \nCandidate must have or be able to obtain a Secret clearance \n \nStrong technical background \n \nExperience conducting System Safety efforts, testing and verification in compliance with MIL-STD-882 or equivalent \n \nKnowledge of Safety Engineering design practices \n \nAbility to manage subcontractors in Safety field of expertise \n \nAbility to document Safety Subject Matter knowledge from Safety team members on Fire Control Circuits, Ignition Circuits, Explosive Energetics, Special Packaging instructions, Insensitive Munitions Testing in a clear and concise manner for other team members to utilize.\n \nSafety proposal and negotiation skills \n \nProficient with Microsoft Office \n \nStrong interpersonal skills and an ability to build effective working relationships are a must \n \nStrong decision making skills \n \nStrong time management skills\n \nAdditionally, candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, technical writing experience, and an ability to perform oral presentations in front of large groups \n \nCandidate must be willing to work overtime and travel as needed to support program requirements\n Desired Skills: \nActive Secret Security clearance\n \nEngineering degree \n \nMunitions/Missiles and/or Launcher familiarity \n \nExperience implementing a software safety program in accordance with AR 385-17 or equivalent.\n \nExperience in preparing software system safety documentation and presenting safety case to the SSSTRP or equivalent safety boards is considered a strong plus. \n \nFamiliar with software engineering analysis, assessment and documentation tools.\n \nKnowledge of Human Factors and Systems Engineering is considered a strong plus\n \nReliability and Maintainability engineering knowledge \n \nMilitary experience \n \nHazardous Materials Management knowledge \n \nExperience supporting System Safety Working Groups \n \nExperience supporting Government conducted tests and providing Safety analysis of test incidents \n \nHardware/Software fault insertion design and test experience\n BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: \njob.Qualifications\n \n Lockheed Martin is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
