Job Description Job Description Job Title: Heavy Equipment Hauler – Class A CDL Driver Company: Austin Wood Recycling (AWR) Location: 5225 Thelin St, Fort Worth, TX (Onsite; travel to local job sites) Employment Type: Full-time, Hourly (Non-Exempt) Reports To: Dispatchers / Transportation Managers Travel: Up to 25% to job sites to haul equipment; no overnight travel required Compensation: $25.00–$27.00 per hour (overtime eligible per applicable law) Benefits: Comprehensive Medical/Dental/Vision ; 401(k) (fully vested at year one; up to 4% company match for deferrals of 5%); PTO; paid holidays; paid bereavement; educational assistance for industry-related certifications Job Summary The Heavy Equipment Hauler (Class A CDL Driver) is responsible for the safe, compliant, and on-time transportation of product and/or equipment between AWR locations and customer/job sites. This role partners closely with Dispatch and Transportation leadership to execute daily routes, maintain strong customer-facing professionalism, and ensure accurate documentation. The position is critical to meeting production demands and protecting AWR’s safety record through consistent adherence to FMCSA requirements and company SOPs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Own end-to-end hauling execution: confirm dispatch instructions, transport product/equipment to and from job sites, and complete daily closeout documentation. Operate safely and compliantly in accordance with FMCSA regulations and state/federal Hours of Service requirements. Perform pre- and post-trip inspections; document findings and escalate mechanical/safety concerns promptly. Operate assigned equipment configurations (tractor/trailer or roll-off trucks; flatbed, end dump, walking/live floor, or lowboy as assigned). Complete basic daily vehicle service, including cleaning radiator/filters and maintaining a clean vehicle interior. Complete required paperwork accurately and submit daily. Report all accidents and injuries (regardless of severity) and follow incident reporting procedures. Follow standard operating procedures and site rules for loading/unloading, securement, and safety practices. Wear required PPE at all times (safety toe shoes/boots, vest, hard hat, gloves). Perform other duties as assigned based on production demands. Required Qualifications Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) . Ability to work up to ~60 hours per week, including Saturdays as needed (hours not guaranteed). Valid driver’s license and clean driving record . Ability to pass pre-employment drug screens and required background checks. Ability to pass DOT physical and perform role physical requirements, including: Occasionally push/pull trailer doors (~40 lbs) Lift up to 50 lbs Sit/stand for extended periods; walk short distances Climb into/out of tractor/truck multiple times daily using 3 points of contact Bend/stoop/crawl for full truck/trailer inspections (including tires) Work outdoors in varying weather; tolerate dust See/hear sufficiently to operate a commercial motor vehicle safely Frequent overhead arm use (ropes/tie-down straps) Depress clutch and hold position up to 2 minutes Pull rope up to 40 lbs resistance using arms only CDL drivers with must provide an entry-level driver training certificate from an FMCSA-approved driver training school. Preferred Qualifications Equipment hauling experience and/or operation of: tractor trailer, live-floor trailer, end dump, flatbed, roll-off. Lowboy experience (for equipment hauler assignments). Forklift/Spyder experience (especially for flatbed operations). Work Environment / Schedule Current Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with some Saturdays as needed. The schedule may change based on production demand. Environment: Onsite operations with frequent time outdoors at job sites/yards; exposure to dust and weather conditions.
