therapy services under the supervision and direction of a licensed
physical therapist. Implement selected components of
interventions/treatments, obtain data related to the interventions
provided, and make modifications in selected interventions either
to progress the student as directed by the physical therapist or to
ensure student safety and
comfort._________________________________________________________________________________________BASIC
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The essential functions, pursuant to

maximize student success. Implement appropriate physical therapy
services to support the goals and objectives of a student's IEP
under the supervision of a physical therapist. Identify
environmental needs/barriers and make recommendations for
accommodations/physical modifications to the physical therapist.
Conduct both individual and group physical therapy treatments as
assigned by the physical therapist. Monitor student's response to
intervention and consult with the physical therapist if
modification is indicated. Consult with the physical therapist in
the selection of therapy techniques/media and in the sequence of
activities, adapted techniques/media as indicated by student's
performance. Collaborate with the physical therapist to develop
individual goals and objectives for students based upon previous
and current progress, areas of deficits and needs to be
incorporated into the student's IEP. Record billable treatment
times and provides documentation for students receiving Medicaid
according to district guidelines. Establish and maintain
professional communication with students and district personnel;
ensure that all interactions are supportive, courteous and
respectful. Assist with instructing teachers, staff, and parents in
use of adaptive equipment, assistive technology programs or
devices, and integration of therapy goas into the educational
program as directed by the physical therapist. Communicate with
parents about individual students as directed by the physical
therapist. Participate in special education meetings, campus
committees, etc. as requested by supervisor. Maintain appropriate
documentation and schedules in accordance with local, state, and
federal guidelines. Comply with policies established by federal and
state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in
the areas of assessment, placement and planning for special
education services; comply with all district and local campus
routines and regulations, and verbal and written directives. Pursue
professional development activities that align with district goals
and initiatives and current professional research. Comply with the
Employee Standards of Conduct. Perform other duties as

RESPONSIBILITIES:

AND KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of physical therapy theory and practices
related to the provision of school-based interventions for student
with special needs; knowledge of anatomy, neuroanatomy,
kinesiology, and various medical diagnoses and normal/abnormal
child development Ability to maintain professional standards of
behavior and conduct Ability to collaborate and plan effectively
with supervising therapist, administrators, teachers, staff and
students Ability to motivate and encourage student to participate
in therapeutic programs and interventions Ability to take
initiative and demonstrate effective planning, problem-solving and
time management skills Ability to express ideas clearly- orally and
in
writing_________________________________________________________________________________________QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Certification:
Associate's degree from an accredited physical therapy assistant
program required Current Texas PTA licenseExperience: Two years of
experience as a physical therapist assistant Pediatric or
school-based experience
preferred._________________________________________________________________________________________MENTAL/PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL
DEMANDS: Maintain emotional control under stress Frequent
district-wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned
Moderate lifting and carrying required in working with special
education students
