  • Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for job bidding and project estimating tasks, overseeing all aspects of generating customer quotes, preparing cost estimates, and making educated assessments of labor, equipment, materials, and staffing requirements for each project.
  • Develop budgets, prioritize procurement, and manage purchasing activities.
  • Liaise with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely availability of materials required for their respective parts of the project after winning a bid.
  • Oversee and track the fabrication process and resource allocation throughout the project's lifecycle to adhere to production schedules and achieve successful project completion.
  • Collaborate with the shop foreman to coordinate production schedules and monitor progress.
  • Review and interpret work orders, blueprints, engineering drawings, and specification sheets.
  • Qualifications:
  • A degree related to Construction Management or Estimating is preferred.
  • Prior experience in estimating is highly favored.
  • Familiarity with CAD, Advanced Steel, and MS Office is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong computer skills and effective written/verbal communication are essential.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the bulk material/aggregates industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of machine shop standards/practices and equipment, including hydraulic press brakes, punch press, shearing machines, iron workers, plate rolls, profile/angle rolls, band saws, plasma cutting systems, welding, and painting.
  • Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, technical CAD drawings, and reading instrument gauges.
  • Trade School or technical degree specific to steelfabrication is preferred.
